Central Ohio Colon and Rectal Doctors
Welcome to Central Ohio Colon and Rectal Center, Inc.!

We hope that you find our website informative and useful.

Thank you for choosing our doctors to meet your healthcare needs.

Central Ohio Colon and Rectal Center, Inc., also known as COCRC, has well established roots in the central Ohio community as the oldest colorectal surgery practice.  Originally founded by Dr. Ralph Samson and Dr. William Stewart as MD’s Inc in April of 1969, the practice changed its name to Central Ohio Colon and Rectal Center, Inc. in 1981 with the addition of Dr. Pedro Aguilar, current President of COCRC.

The founding physicians soon retired but Dr. Bruce Kerner joined the practice in 1990 along with Dr. David Giammar in 2002.  Dr. Aguilar continues to practice but also is the director of the Grant Medical Center Colon and Rectal Surgery Residency program.  Both Dr. Kerner and Dr. Giammar, along with Dr. Aguilar, serve on numerous hospital and surgical center committees and participate in residency activities, including training and seminars.  Dr. Peter Lee, who joined COCRC in 2009, is quickly settling in the Northwest Columbus area and his practice is growing quickly.

COCRC currently has offices located on or near the campuses of Mount Carmel East Hospital, Grant Medical Center, Riverside Methodist Hospital, and St. Ann’s Hospital. The practice opened their newest office location on the campus of the new Dublin Methodist Hospital in 2008.

Welcome to the newest colon and rectal surgeon to our group, Dr. Melinda Jack!  Scheduling for appointments with Dr. Jack is now open to all patients.  We are very excited about her addition to the group and our community as the only female colon and rectal surgeon in area.

Are you ready for your screening colonoscopy?  If you are not over 50 years of age, why should you consider having a colonoscopy? March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and you can learn answers to these questions and more by visiting this link:

Congratulations to Dr. David Giammar!  He was inducted October 11, 2009 into the American College of Surgeons as a Fellow and added "FACS" to the initials after his name.  The process to obtain fellowship is lengthy and requires not only board certification in surgery but also case experience, peer references, and an interview for eligibility.  Congratulations and to learn more about this honor, please visit http://www.facs.org/about/corppro.html.

Have you been hearing about Robotic-Assisted Surgery on the television and radio?  Our surgeons have begun training to make this option available to our patients.  To learn more about the robotics program and its use in minimally-invasive colon and rectal surgery, visit http://www.davincisurgery.com.
